The PrintFactory team attended this year’s FESPA Global Print Expo – Europe’s largest international wide-format event – to highlight the productivity and performance benefits that automation can deliver.

Welcoming thousands of visitors across 10 halls in Berlin Messe, this year’s event showcased the latest innovations in digital large format print alongside their real-world applications. The transformative power of automation and industry 4.0 was a key focus throughout the show, with examples of fully automated print-to-cut workflows on display.

Automation is integral to remaining competitive in this shifting landscape. The results of FESPA’s Print Census revealed growing investment in the latest technology across print businesses in response to increasing demands for customisation, short runs and just in time (JIT) delivery. Some of the latest automated software solutions, such as PrintFactory’s ‘dynamic nesting’ feature, use JIT techniques to test the most efficient output conditions before delivering jobs to the RIP for output via the cloud for maximum efficiency and productivity.

One of the key talking points on the PrintFactory stand was our Version 6 software release and how its 100+ functionality improvements further streamline the large format workflow process. In keeping with the key trends at the show, we shared the latest updates to PrintFactory’s next generation colour engine, which enables print shops to generate colour excellence and consistency in a variety of different environments, conditions and disciplines, including interior decor and textile printing, which clearly presents exciting opportunities for those that can get it right.

Over 74% of respondents to FESPA’s Print Census identified wallpaper and interior decor printing as a key growth area for their business. FESPA’s colourful Printeriors exhibition explored the benefits, opportunities and creative applications of digital interiors printing with a display of striking printed wallpapers, curtains and furniture.

Some of the industry’s most advanced printers were also launched at the event, boasting superior colour output and industry 4.0 functionality. Alongside these launches, we were excited to share details of PrintFactory’s integration with the latest machines to supply indepth status updates and metrics to the PrintFactory Cloud reporting dashboard.

FESPA Global Print Expo 2018 was a hotbed of innovation in wide-format print and we thoroughly enjoyed demonstrating how the latest industry 4.0 and automation solutions can help to overcome some of LFP’s biggest workflow challenges.
